Soothing Sitz (Herb + Salt Blend)

This soothing blend of salt and herbs offer their benefits to speed up the healing process for hemorrhoids.

What are hemorrhoids?

also known as piles, they are swollen veins in the anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins. They can be internal, located inside the rectum, or external, found under the skin around the anus. Common causes include: straining during bowel movements, pregnancy, chronic constipation and sitting on the toilet too long. 

They typically clear up on their own, but this herb + salt blend helps to:

• reduce itching, swelling and inflammation
• improve blood flow (thus causing the vein to go back to normal size)
• reduce bleeding
• ease pain

DIRECTIONS: 

For a Sitz bath: Add 1 bag to 64 oz (or however many oz your Sitz bath holds) of just boiled water and steep for 15 minutes. Let cool until comfortable enough to touch your skin (will probably cool enough while steeping). Pour into your Sitz bath and submerge the affected area for 15-20 minutes. Can repeat once a day until hemorrhoids are cleared up.

For a shallow bath in a tub: fill tub with enough hot water to submerge the affected area (should be relatively shallow), and add 1 tea bag as it is filling up. Once you've checked the temperature to make sure it's not uncomfortably hot, sit in the water for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with clean water afterward. Can repeat once a day until hemorrhoids are cleared up.

INGREDIENTS: Unrefined sea salt, Lavendula augustifolia (lavender), Plantago major (plantain leaf), Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel), Achillea millefolium (yarrow), Calendula officinalis (calendula), Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile)
