Postpartum Padsicle Elixr
You might be asking, "What is a padsicle....and why does it need an elixr??" - but if you're a new mother, then this might become your new favorite postpartum secret!
The term "padsicle" was first made popular through social media where new moms would share their secret of soaking menstrual pads with remedies such as witch hazel and aloe vera gel for speeding up healing, reducing pain and keeping infection away from their vaginal area after giving birth (especially if stitches were necessary).
This inspired us to create an infused olive oil that is supercharged with herbs especially suited to: stop excess bleeding and help prevent infection (yarrow), promote new skin cell growth for rapid healing and healthy skin (comfrey), reduce swelling and inflammation (witch hazel bark), keep skin hydrated and provide a some soothing pain relief (calendula).
Simply coat some light-medium thickness pads with the oil, seal in a ziploc bag and pop in the freezer to get nice and cold until you're ready to use!
NOTE: Keep this oil out of direct sunlight. If kept in the fridge it may thicken slightly, but it's still useable! Either spread onto the pads with a knife/spoon or leave the bottle at room temp to become liquid again.
DIRECTIONS: FOR BEST RESULTS: Open several thin-medium maxi pads while preserving the backing for the adhesive tabs.
Shake padsicle elixir very well and then saturate as many pads as desired.
Fold them back up like new, and place in a ziploc bag. Squeeze all the air out and place in the freezer.
Take one out and apply to your underwear as you normally would.
Use as often as needed for soothing any pain, protecting against infection, and healing the skin!
INGREDIENTS: Olea europaea (olive oil), Symphytum officinale (comfrey leaf), Achillea millefolium (yarrow), Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel bark), Calendula officinalis (calendula)
